So. Cal Vacation

For the last week of July we went on a vacation to Southern California. We started out in Laguna Beach and ended in Carlsbad. It was nice to enjoy the cool ocean weather and spend time with family & friends.

This is at a lookout in Laguna Beach.

This is where the previous picture was taken from. Down below us are steep cliffs to the ocean.

Running from the waves with the kids.

We spent the first weekend in Laguna with our friends, the Frosts.
This is Brock walking with his daughter, Marissa.

On Monday, we had dinner at Lynn & Joe's house.

At Carlsbad Beach, Colby & Marissa happily sharing a chair.

Colby was constantly wanting to play games.

Grandpa buried Colby in the sand. He wanted to do it, again & again.

Ready for another round.

Tuesday at the beach.

Bryan made Colby sand castles of Disney's movie Cars. On the left, Lightning McQueen & on the right, Doc.

A morning of shopping in Carlsbad. Colby matches the firehydrant.

Colby loved to watch the trains go by at the Carlsbad Station.

On Wednesday, we went to Carlsbad Lagoon to go Paddle Boarding. My cousin, Lynn's niece, Amy & her husband own a company that makes these, check them out: http://surfdarrelljones.com/. The above picture is of Colby & Amy's son, Chance, looking for crabs.
This video is of Bryan on the paddle board for the first time. This takes a lot of balance and it is a really good workout.

First time for us all to kayak.

Melanie taking Marissa for a ride.

Joe gave us tickets to a Padres vs. Diamondbacks game.
This is the view from inside the ballpark. Behind us is the Coronado Bridge.

This is the back of the ballpark. They have a sand pit for kids & a little league field too.

Melanie, Marissa & Brock. This is a picture from where our seats were. Great game the Diamondbacks won!

Before we left for home we took a bike ride along the coast. Or at least I thought it was just a bike ride.

On our way to Oceanside Pier. Bryan is trying to stay up with the cyclists that keep passing us by.

We finally made it to the pier. Haley (my cousin), Lisa, (my sister) & myself at the pier.
Lisa & Haley. In total our "bike ride" was 7.5 miles and it was up & down the hills. I was thinking we were going for maybe 30 minutes, but we were much longer. It was a pretty fun ride though.

My Uncle Greg & Aunt Tami came down for a day at the beach with us.
