Beach Days

Every year we love to get away to the ocean to spend some time relaxing and playing in the sun. This year we were able to go and stay with my parents in Carlsbad, California. We were there for 5 1/2 days, we spent 4 days at the beach, one day around town, and the last partial day traveling. We had a lot of fun playing in the sand & water, swimming at the pool, eating lots of good food, and just hanging out in the cooler weather. All of my mom's side of the family (Grandma on down) was there except for my sister's husband, Wes, who had to work. We got together at my cousin's Lynn's house for a BBQ with all the extended family. It was so fun to see everyone since we usually only get together every 2 years.

Day 1: The kids & I at Carlsbad Beach with Grandma & Grandpa, Uncle Greg & Aunt Tami
Carson loves the outdoors, he would have been even happier if it was sunny on this particular day

Colby with his Grandpa & my Uncle Greg (my dad's brother). Trying to catch sandcrabs

Carson meeting Aunt Tami for the first time. He loved playing with her necklace

Day 2 at Tourmaline Surf Beach, cloudy but not as cold as the first one. We spent the day with the Frost family.

Bryan's second time surfing. I kept missing getting a picture of him at the start of the wave.

In the distance, Bryan & Brock riding a wave together.

The kids bundled up after playing in the water.

We went out to eat at this awesome burrito place in San Diego called Lucha Libre. This booth can only be sat in if you reserved it 24 hrs in advance. It was a Mexican wrestler themed restaurant.

Day 3: Carlsbad Beach. Carson loving the sunlight.

Colby & Marissa playing in the water

Lisa was finally able to make it up to the beach. Here is little Tatum trying to get used to the water.

Day 4: Spent around town. My mom, Lisa & I took the kids on a walk downtown around the shops. The kids & I hung out around the resorts. Colby & I played games and went to the pool. Colby went swimming everyday after we were at the beach. He loved going to the children's spa. It was like bath water.

striking a pose for the camera. We took Colby on a couple of walks with his scooter. He had an unfortunate incident where he hit his mouth on the bars along the boardwalk. A mouth full of blood and a few tears later and he was fine to go again.

BBQ dinner at Lynn's house! All of my extended family was able to get together for an evening together. We missed out on getting a picture of everyone together but this is a four generation picture of the kid's great-grandma, grandma, mom, Colby & Carson.

Colby wearing Lynn's birthday glasses. What is it with funny glasses and having to make a face to go with it?

All the great-grandkids. Shanna, Tatum, Carson & Colby (being silly)

Colby as always loved the dogs, so he made a little flower stand so they could smell the flowers. He played catch with the littlest dog for half of the night and was Joe's little buddy for the rest of the night.

Day 5: family day at Carlsbad Beach
Carson playing in the water & loving the sunshine. He didn't mind the water, even though his little toes felt frozen. He was great at the beach. We would put him in a tent for naps and he would sleep 1-3 hrs no problem.

our family at the beach. Once again we saw dolphins not far from shore.

Cousins playing at the beach. Tatum was finally getting used to the water & sand. Lisa is expecting her second baby girl early November.

happy Carson

Colby and his friends he met on the beach. He had a great time playing with these little girls, Rachel & Sara (10 & 11yr) . They were staying at the resort too and were from Tempe. He spent 2 days just playing with them. He only wanted to do what they were doing and he didn't want to leave the beach until they were leaving the beach. On our last day, he dug a hole with the girls that was deeper than he was tall. They loved to dig holes and build there on swimming pool.
